Topological Optimiazation of Furniture

This research project was undertaken on the MIT Computational Structural Design and Optimization class. The focus of the research was the use of 3D topological optimization to produce beautiful furniture with the minimal material necessary to realise the design. This research was inspired by the amount of furniture that ends up in landfill each year. A key objective was to reduce environmental impacts, by minimising material inputs through the processes of manufacture and disposal.
